Introducing our Split Toe Derby, crafted from premium dark brown country calf leather, features the all-new N2 last, characterized by its rounded and elegant toe. The widened forefoot enhances fit and comfort. The split toe design, coupled with a skin-stitched apron, showcases a harmonious blend of craftsmanship and aesthetics.
The split toe derby, also known as the Norwegian derby, is a classic style with a seam running along the toe, creating a split effect that enhances both its look and durability. The “skin-stitched” apron refers to stitching done on the inside of the leather, without piercing the outer surface. This technique strengthens the shoe while maintaining a smooth, clean exterior. Combining functionality and elegance, the split toe derby is a timeless addition to any wardrobe.
Hand lasted and handwelted.
The outsoles are fully hand stitched.
Standard E width and the wider F width are available.
Lead time for standard MTO is 25-30 days, while the Artisanal line requires 4 months.

Fiddleback Waist
Compared to the flat waist of the RTW collection, the Artisanal line boasts a signature fiddleback waist, which demands a longer crafting time and can only be achieved through meticulous handwork. This exquisitely narrow waistline results in a more elegant and refined silhouette.
Refined Fudging
The neat and precise fudging and hand-stitched outsole, with 12 stitches per inch (SPI), are the standard of the Artisanal line, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and durability. Every stitch is meticulously aligned with the exact placement of the fudging, reflecting the highest level of craftsmanship.

The Artisanal line showcases a precisely crafted heel, expertly pitched to fit snugly to the upper. This technique demands the artisan's patience and skill, requiring substantial time to achieve a flawless finish.
Hand-welted
Compared to the Goodyear welted construction, which attaches the welt using a glued-on rib, our skilled craftsmen use needles and thread to stitch the welt to the upper and insole. This method makes the sole more flexible and durable, requiring exceptional manual dexterity and experience.
Hand-Stitched Outsoles
Hand-stitched outsoles allow for greater flexibility compared to machine-stitched alternatives. This flexibility ensures a more natural movement of the foot, leading to increased comfort, especially during prolonged wear.
Closed Channel
Closed-channel outsoles, seamlessly integrated into our Handwelted construction. Meticulously crafted for durability, they elevate both performance and style, ensuring every step is a statement of sophistication.

I was fortunate to be able to visit the workshop in Chengdu and to be personally measured and fitted by Edmond Xie.
Having a slightly wider foot, this was very beneficial and the Split Toe Derby shoes they had for me to try on were a perfect fit.
I was accompanied by my wife who has limited interest in Men's shoes. However, she was very impressed by the Yearn shoes and very disappointed that they didn't make women's shoes.
The Derby's not only fit very well and are extremely comfortable from first wearing, softest welted soles of all of my welted shoes, but they look fantastic and all finishes are extremely impressive.
Looking forward to ordering a pair of Made to Order shoes next, now that they have my sizing. Plus the Artisanal line upgrade will be added to the order. Trulyy spectacular!
